    • It all depends whether there is a hidden secluded habitat out there that is just perfect for it, so it can survive until today but not climb out of its habitat unitl humans come.

If the worm managed to escape, I predict that it would either sneak up on the population and give hosts majority control so it seemed as if nothing was wrong, so it could overtake the population quietly. There is also a possibility that it would be an invasion similar to the one in Slither*. There would be large-scale infections, although humans would eventually hunt down the infected and kill them.

      These are only my predictions.

      * = A movie in which an alien infects people and animals with fluke-like parasites.

Very funny. And it would actually be horrible if that thought was real. We would all become their slaves. I don't think that's fun. You may want to be infected with a worm, but it's good you're not.

Also, you may have dreams about the worm because you are obsessed with it. People definitely dream about obsessions. That's probably all it is.

Why would psychic-types survive? Poison types would. So would steel, rock, and ground types. However, if a Pokemon is even part poison or steel, it is automatically OK, but for the other types, they would have to have only that or those types. Okay. Fine. We won't talk about Pokemon.

But, what we will talk about is: PARALELL UNIVERSES! No, perpendicular universes. Each universe is a "line" that is one dimension, and the other 2 dimensions aren't connected. These lines intersect each other in access points. Machines can be built there that rotate you into the 4th dimension. You jump, and it then rotates you again, and you're in the other universe. paralell universes don't touch, so you cannot access them. In each universe, or "baseline", different laws apply. So, if we, by luck, get into the Pokemon universe, then we can get infinite water.

Enough about that. That way, with InterDimentional Transport(IDT), we could potentially bring Pokemon, neurax worms, and other "impossible" things that would, otherwise, defy the laws of physics.

    • The worm could be brought about by radiation poisoning standard worms, a bio contamination from a secret lab facility, or from human invasion into a igneous environment in my opinion.

        Loading editor
    • It could arise from an ancient artifact that would turn any animal that touched it into a neurax worm (obscure fan-fiction idea!),

Or change anyone who touched it part human part neurax.(more obscure fan-fiction idea!),

And maybe be able to be changed by coding it!(Even more obscure fanfiction idea!)

I dream up fanfiction ideas in my sleep! The problem it, it is too hard after the beginning. So they usually don't get anywhere.

    • The concept of the worm originating from an ancient artifiact of a long dead civilization (possibly by the worm itself) is a great idea. The curse idea is good too, coming from an ancient burial ground or cursed location would make sense. I believe eventually the worm and its host would morph together (like the gnome in Half Life:Opposing Force) or the worm would complie human or self made technology to advance itself into a mechanical host body or would augment the host body with weaponary (I really hope that they add neurax controlled humans having the ability to use firearms in an update, as it would make the kill all humans scenerio much darker).

        Loading editor
    • I think that the worm is able to live without hosts, or at least human hosts, since it says on its description that it's old, so I'd say that it's simply a normal creature. Okay, it's the ultimate lifeform, but still a lifeform.

        Loading editor
    • It can live without hosts but due to its size it is very fragile and needs a host to prosper (much like a headcrab). The artifact origin could be humanity's first encounter with the worm resulting in the destruction of a civilization through transendence or through death (much like you have the option to destroy or enslave humanity).

        Loading editor
    • Isn't it a parasite? Maybe it was responsible for the death of eg. the trilobites? A species ended up dying with it, and a few scientists recreated it? Eventually, it escaped containment and enslaved, then killed humanity, and it might eventually kill another civilization!

        Loading editor
    • The idea of humans trying to resurrect an extinct species like the trilobites and extracting the DNA resulting in the creation of the worm sounds like an interesting fan theory. Even with the worm being cloned as opposed to the trilobite, scientists would want to study the worm leading to its escape and possible government cover up, leaving a few surviving worms to fend for themselves in the arctic until humans stumble upon one...

        Loading editor
    • Scientists would notice polar bears acting up, study them, and... Get infected!

        Loading editor
    • Incorporating the idea of the Neurax Worm having something to due with the extinction of the Neanderthals might be an interesting origin story.

        Loading editor
    • So.. it only worked on them, but now it's evolved and can infect us, too?

        Loading editor
    • Maybe modern humans are closer to Neanderthals than they were?

        Loading editor
    • Good point. It could have been acquired by paleontologists excavating remains and evolved I suppose. It does have zoonotic shift though, I guess that could be a viable explanation.

    • There are diseases that can make people have similar physical traits like the Neanderthals like Acromegaly example: Rondo Hatton. • Actually, it is possible.

    • Ok I know I'm reviving a dead thread, but the neraux worm(s) might originate from egyptian times, because, (this is why its a obscurer fanfictuion idea than O0032 could think of) they worshipped multiple gods that might've actually been the neraux worm(s) in dusguise, and could be found (and infect) a egyptologist that finds a new pharaoh's tomb. Due to that (The neraux worm made me type this, I do not type so fast normally) we could all end up being slaves to the neraux worm. This work for all (old) pagen religions.

    • ...and christiantiy! Every sect is just a neurax worm infection!

    • I'm here to revive a thread!! If it exisits, has it simpily not infected people with a religion, are they immune?

    • Maybe the neurax worm lives in the ocean. Remember: 95% of the ocean is still unexplored or unmapped.

    • I'm going to revive this thread (again), along with putting in my two cents (Coiny: Oi, stop that!):

The Neurax Worm might live in the tropics. We are cutting down the forests there, uncovering diseases that were lying beneath like images under the silvery stuff on scratch cards. This is really happening in real life, with HIV and the filoviruses (Ebola and Marburg) being examples. So, the Neurax Worm might live in some tropical animal, and one day, some guy cuts down some trees, gets attacked by a feral, Neurax-crazed monkey, gets a few bruises due to being hit by a banana alongside the Neurax Worm.  Aw cheese, Mother Nature uses another horrid disease to try to kill us.

    • There are many organisms that we havnt discovered yet so it is possible for it or a similar organism to exist

Well that's evolution. We evolve, so do diseases. It's an evolutionary arms race.

I'm going to fly there! Then I'll get infected, and mentally say: "Do not get any symptoms and help me along life or I will tell the cure research doctors" Also, if Charles Darwin is wrong, I'll consider the worm harmless.

Then it will mind control you and prevent you from telling the doctors. Besides, who tells us that we could communicate with it?

Maybe it can read our thoughts telepathy or something like that.
