Strategy 1

This strategy should work for all difficulties, but don't expect any higher than 4 Biohazards on Mega Brutal. I'm going to use an odd strategy for slowing cure progress that I'll detail in the guide.

Gene Setup:

  • ATP Boost (I like to use it to get Undulatory and Concertina Locomotion as soon as possible)
  • Genetic Mimic (to make cure research harder)
  • Aquacyte (theoretically, any gene should work here)
  • Extremophile (similarly to Aquacyte, any gene in this spot should work)
  • Sympto-Stasis (a must-have for the uber-lethal symptoms we need)

  • Start in Saudi Arabia
  • Evolve the following in any order:
    • Concertina Locomotion
    • Undulatory Locomotion
    • Air 1
    • Air 2
    • Neural Breach
    • Cerebral Tendrils
    • Adrenergic Constriction
    • Psychosis
    • Trojan Planes 1

By now, you should have gotten a Trojan Plane. Your priority for Trojan Planes should be uninfected islands, then uninfected key research contributors, then partially-infected research contributors. Don't forget to check the World screen to see who's contributing the most to cure research. If every key research contributor is already infected, keep infecting new countries.

  • Continue to evolve in the following order:
    • Drug Resistance 1
    • Cold Resistance 1
    • Trojan Planes 2
  • You should be noticed by now. We're going to hamper cure speed a bit. Evolve in the following order:
    • Confusion
    • Memory Loss
    • Aneurysm
    • Aphasia
  • Here's the odd part. Evolve the following symptoms:
    • Adoration
    • Devotion
    • Transcendence

I probably owe an explanation. The achievement doesn't require that you never evolve Transcendence, it only requires that it isn't evolved by the end of the game. We're going to use Transcendence to slow the cure progress faster than we can with Confusion, Memory Loss, and Genetic Hardening 1 and 2. By the time we devolve Transcendence, most of the world will be dead anyway, and every country will be in anarchy regardless.

  • We need to increase infectivity by quite a lot before we can really start killing people. Evolve the following in any order:
    • Frontal Mesh
    • Immaturity
    • Mania
    • Aggression
    • Insanity
    • Cold Resistance 2
    • Drug Resistance 2
    • Trojan Planes 3
    • Occipital Mesh
    • Akinetopsia
    • Heat Resistance 1
    • Hallucinations
  • If needed, evolve the following symptoms at any time to reduce cure percentage:
    • Coma
    • Apraxia

At this point, cure progress should slow to a crawl, and you should have pretty high infectivity. Devolve Transcendance and evolve any lethal symptoms you can afford (Despair > Suicide, Acute Encephalitis, etc.) Keep cure progress as low as you can with symptoms and Genetic ReShuffles.

I finished in 489 days with 48% cure progress, receiving 4 biohazards. I hope this helps!
