Shadow Spawn is a gene exclusive to the Shadow Plague. This gene makes vampires stealthier in countries with lairs, allowing them to feed while avoiding Templar detection.

This gene is useful for time consuming achievements such as Power Overwhelming, due to the fact that the vampire can take refuge in countries with lairs without being noticed.[2] By not being so easily perceived, people don't become paranoid about vampires so quickly and therefore the investigation of skeletons found at the Stonehenge Archaeological Site isn't so easily interrupted by the deterioration of the general public order in order to fight the disease and the vampire.
This gene is also useful in combination with the special abilities of Lair Healing, making the process much faster when protecting against human attacks.
