The Philippines is a low income island country located in the southeastern part of the Asian continent, characterized by a generally hot and humid climate, in addition to having a high population density. Although the country is considered poor, it has a relatively higher degree of importance than others in the game at the time a disease is detected in the territory, in addition to having a port that connects it with other nearby Asian countries.

IG Factbook: "The Philippines Islands became a Spanish colony in the 16th century - they were ceded to the US in 1898 following the Spanish-American War. In 1935 the Philippines became a self-governing commonwealth. In 1942 the islands fell under Japanese occupation during World War II, and US forces and Filipinos fought together during 1944-45 to regain control. On 4 July 1946 the Republic of the Philippines attained its independence. A 20-year rule by Ferdinand Marcos ended in 1986, when a 'people power movement in Manila ("EDSA 1') forced him into exile. Instability and coup attempts that hampered a return to full political stability and economic development. In January 2001 after a stormy impeachment trial on corruption charges broke down and another people power' movement ('EDSA 2') occurred The Philippine Government faces threats from several groups - ethnic Moro insurgencies in the southern Philippines and a decades-long Maoist-inspired New People's Army insurgency."

Tips

• The Philippines has a high population density, which means that people get infected very quickly. Despite this, it's not the best country to start in, as it is relatively hard to infect other countries from here. This is one of the harder countries to infect, although it isn't as tough as Greenland, Madagascar, the Caribbean, or Iceland.
• This country is harder to infect in the Neurax Worm and Necroa Virus plagues. Due to the small size of the country, it is very hard to accurately send a Trojan Plane or Zombie Horde there. It is also very easy to miss when uninfected due to its small size. It shares this trait with the Caribbean.

Trivia

• The City Cam tank of the Philippines during General Disruption and Widespread Disorder is an M4A3 Sherman Tank. The original photo was taken during May 2006 at Fort Meade Museum located in South Dakota.
• The island of Palawan is not included in the game map, because the game has problems to show small islands, so they are omitted.
