Egypt is a poor country. It has a hot, arid climate, and is bordered by Libya, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, and the Middle east.

In the Necroa Virus DLC, if the player starts in Egypt, there is a unique storyline about the discovery of a tomb at the Pyramid of Giza. The player can trigger the story by evolving Saliva 1 and Heat Resistance 1 within the first 70 days.

IG Factbook: "The regularity and richness of the annual Nile River flood, coupled with semi-isolation provided by deserts to the east and west, allowed for the development of one of the world's great civilizations. A unified kingdom arose circa 3200 B.C., and a series of dynasties ruled in Egypt for the next three millennia. The last native dynasty fell to the Persians in 341 B.C., who in turn were replaced by the Greeks, Romans, and Byzantines. The Arabs introduced Islam and the Arabic language in the 7th century then Britain seized control of Egypt's government in 1882. Egypt acquired full sovereignty from Britain in 1952. The completion of the Aswan High Dam in 1971 and the resultant Lake Nasser have altered the time-honored place of the Nile River in the agriculture and ecology of Egypt. A rapidly growing population (the largest in the Arab world), limited arable land, and dependence on the Nile all continue to overtax resources and stress society."

• The German gaming website GamingPro recommends starting in this country to complete Prion, Nano-Virus and Bio-Weapon, one of the reasons is because it is a hot country, so it gives the player a bonus in these climates to start in this country and on top of that it has plenty of routes and land connections.

Trivia

• Egypt is currently the only poor country in-game to have an airport.
• Some boats that go from Asia to Europe pass through Egypt, using the Suez Canal.
• The helicopter seen in the Egypt City Cam during Widespread Disorder is a Westland Commando Mk.2 used by the Egyptian Air Force. The original photo was taken in January 2014.
• In a news headline, it mentions that "Egypt 'in danger of wasting a generation'". This news headline is random and has no effect on the game.
