Drug Resistance 2 is a tier 2 ability. With it, a plague becomes resistant to stronger drugs,[Note 1] increasing infectivity in wealthy countries.

- If the player uses this ability, there is a possibility that the President of the United States will contract the disease and have to resign from office despite having access to the best medicines. This event is the first of a much larger storyline in the game to earn the Nuclear Retaliation achievements.
