DarkWater is a company which can genetically engineer the Necroa Virus, if a plague starts in the USA. The general idea is that the DarkWater private weapons company created the Necroa as a Bio-Weapon, and it has escaped somehow. It is required to activate this story for the achievements Non Starter, Dead End, and Big Bang.

Activation

  • To start, play as the Necroa Virus in the USA. Recommended genes include Cytochrome Surge and Rurophile. Otherwise, it's your choice.
  • Evolve Saliva 1 and Drug Resistance 1 within 60 in-game days. Otherwise, nothing will happen.
  • A popup should appear stating that DarkWater is concerned for a missing geneticist. This means that the right steps have been taken.
  • Now comes the long part. Evolve other transmissions (other than Zoonotic Shift) to get a foothold in other countries. Two news reels should appear. One says that DarkWater denies a containment breach in the weapons facility, the other saying the DarkWater lab is shut down for security fears.
  • After the second news reel (recommended: USA completely infected, decent progress in other countries), evolve Cytopathic Reanimation. After the government cracked under peer pressure and admits zombies exist, to which DarkWater will say that they created it and it got out (most likely has something to do with that missing geneticist).
