Custom Scenarios is a feature formerly exclusive to Plague Inc: Evolved which allow players to create and publish their own scenarios via the Scenario Creator and then publish them on Steam Workshop. It is introduced in November 2014. In 2016, players of Plague Inc. are able to play Custom Scenarios. The following year, the app Plague Inc.: Scenario Creator was released for $2.99 and $3.99 on iOS and Android respectively.

Custom Scenarios can be written so that cheats, such as Unlimited Strain, cannot be used, or they can be used to change the start date or change your base infectivity. Like certain Scenarios, certain Custom Scenarios may start in pre-selected countries. Interestingly, similar to the Neurax Worm and Shadow Plague, there are scenarios that may have a third ending, for example where the disease benefits the infected.

There are currently 23,803 custom scenarios available (as of 29 September 2020). You can browse the custom scenarios here.

Trivia

  • The cost of a trait can be any number. If the number is over 32768 then the cost will underflow such that when the trait is bought such that DNA is gained, and loops around every 65536 points.
    • 256^2=65536, the range. 2^8=256, so 65536 is 2^16. The thing used is 16-bit, but the population system is not because it uses numbers like 1 billion.
