Assuming Direct Control is an achievement for winning the game with the Neurax Worm by enslaving humanity. In order to do this, the Transcendence symptom must be evolved, and all healthy humans must be killed or infected. This leaves only the infected, who all worship the worms as their gods. This is one of two possible endings to the Neurax Worm plague, the other being the typical wiping out everyone in the world, infected or not.
