IG Factbook: "After more than a century of rule by France, Algerians fought and achieved independence in 1962. The National Liberation Front (FLN) was established in 1954 as part of the struggle for independence and has largely dominated politics since. In 1988 the government instituted a multi-party system in response to public unrest, but the surprising first round success of the Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) led the Algerian army to intervene and postpone the second round of elections. The army then began a crackdown on the FIS that that escalated into an insurgency, which saw intense violence from 1992-98. Longstanding problems continue to face the country including large-scale unemployment, a shortage of housing, unreliable electrical and water supplies, government inefficiencies and corruption, and the continuing activities of extremist militants."
- To effectively start a Parasite in this country, you need to evolve Symbiosis 1 and 2. The reasons for this are because Algeria has 3 research facilities, and they may hinder the progression of your disease in the future.
- Since Algeria is a poor country in-game, it doesn't take much to hit critical mass there. As long as you have a good amount of infectivity (and Heat Resistance if you start in a cold or balanced-climate country), then you will be good. If you are still struggling to spread in Algeria, try evolving Blood 1 and/or 2, Insect 1 and/or 2, and Skin Lesions.
- When Algeria is in General Disruption, on the corner of the City Cam, it can be seen a road sign, which has a text written in Arabic.
- It probably reads "ابعاد" (even though the letters are the other way around), which translates to "drive off"
